Mansoura University President Participates in the Events of the "Second ALECSO Forum for Twinning Arab Universities" at the University of Sharjah, UAE

Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, participated on November 20, 2024, in the opening events of the "Second ALECSO Forum for Twinning Arab Universities", which is organized by the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), under the slogan "Green Entrepreneurship and Volunteer Environmental Teams in Arab Universities - Prospects for Joint Cooperation", and hosted by the University of Sharjah. With the honor of His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, Dr. Humaid Al Nuaimi, Director of the University of Sharjah, and a group of Arab leaders and university presidents from Arab countries, to enhance academic cooperation and exchange ideas and experiences.
The conference is held within the framework of cooperation between Arab universities and international institutions concerned with the scientific research and sustainable development sector, to enhance cooperation in advancing comprehensive economic and social development, with broad and effective Arab and international participation, in line with the development witnessed by the international arena in the field of scientific and technological research, entrepreneurship and innovation, circular economy and green economy, which pushes it towards progress and excellence, and creates all opportunities for university youth on whom we rely to build the future.
During the opening activities, a presentation was given by Johannes Gutenberg University in Germany entitled "Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Higher Education", which addressed the most important challenges facing higher education institutions and how to benefit from artificial intelligence technologies and applications, whether at the level of education and learning or scientific research and services supporting the educational process.
Then an introductory film was shown about the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization and the "ALECSO" Award for Creativity and Innovation for Researchers in the Arab World. The opening session events concluded with the announcement of the winners of the ALECSO Award for Creativity and Innovation for Researchers in the Arab World.
Prof. Cherif Khater participated in the session entitled "The Role of Universities in Leadership and Innovation", with a lecture on environmental volunteer work at Mansoura University, and stressed at the beginning his pleasure to participate in the Arab Universities Twinning Forum, pointing out the importance of concerted efforts to implement a strategy towards creating sustainable active mechanisms for cooperation between Arab institutions working in the field of research, development and innovation. He also pointed out Mansoura University's keenness to implement the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research and Egypt's Vision 2030, and to implement the directives of the Egyptian political leadership to strengthen partnerships with Arab and international universities to build scientific staff capable of enhancing the scientific research environment and exchanging scientific and research expertise. He added that Mansoura University seeks, through its strategy, to improve the quality of graduates and achieve competitiveness by preparing distinguished students in various fields to meet the needs of the labor market at all local and international levels. It also has many educational programs, internationally accredited scientific specializations, and educational programs in partnership with international universities, in addition to the university's excellence in technological aspects and digital transformation, and its receipt of Egyptian government excellence awards in this regard, as well as its receipt of the award for the best environmentally friendly university. He also reviewed the vision and mission of Mansoura University, pointing out its most prominent points of distinction and obtaining institutional accreditation as the first Egyptian university to be accredited by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education in Egypt, and 10 of its faculties obtaining accreditation. It also has a medical sector that includes 13 hospitals and specialized medical centers with a prestigious reputation and position locally and globally, and has been accredited by the Arab Council for Medical Specializations affiliated with the Council of Arab Health Ministers, to obtain the Arab Board in various clinical and medical specialties. It also has an honorable academic and research level and global ranking, which is reflected in the level of students and researchers. He presented the role of Mansoura University in achieving environmental volunteer work and sustainability, pointing out that there are a large number of units with a special character in the university that provide consulting services and various research projects. He also pointed out the university’s participation in various presidential initiatives such as the 100 Million Trees Initiative, community and environmental initiatives that support sustainability and environmental work such as medical and multidisciplinary, food and supply convoys, awareness convoys, the “Dakahlia without Illiteracy Initiative”, the Small, Medium and Heritage Industries Revival Initiative, environmental initiatives, sports marathons, environmental competitions, and launching events in conjunction with relevant international days.
