Mansoura University President receives a delegation from the University of Manchester to enhance cooperation

Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, received on December 3, 2024, a delegation from the medical sector of the University of Manchester in England, during their visit to Mansoura University to discuss enhancing ways of joint cooperation between the two universities.
The delegation included Prof. Joe Hart - Executive President of the Faculty of Medicine - and Head of the Department of Medical Education at the University of Manchester, Prof. Lucy Davies - Assistant Dean of International Relations for the Medical Sector, Prof. Keith Brennan - Vice Dean of International Relations for the Medical Sector.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Mohamed Attia El-Bayoumi, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Ashraf Shoma, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Yasser Lotfy, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Prof. Manal Eid, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Khaled Bashir, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Prof. Hani Kenawi, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy for Community Service and Environmental Development and Coordinator of the Manchester Agreement at the Faculty, Prof. Radwa Mohsen Omira, Director of the Mansoura Manchester Dental Program.
The meeting discussed a number of topics within the framework of the partnership between the two parties in the medical sector at the university, in the study programs for students in the undergraduate and postgraduate stages in the Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry, and concluding a new partnership and establishing an educational program in the Faculty of Pharmacy, as well as aspects of clinical training and exchange of faculty members. The activation of student exchange and maximizing cooperation in the undergraduate and postgraduate stages were also discussed.
Prof. Cherif Khater expressed Mansoura University's pride in the extended partnership with the University of Manchester, which has reached 20 years, stressing the university's keenness to implement the directives of the political leadership to conclude multiple partnerships with international universities with a prestigious reputation and advanced rankings, which is strongly reflected in the quality of the educational output, and the expansion of the provision of distinguished international university education opportunities through international study programs that meet the needs of the local and international labor market. He added that Mansoura University is keen to take all necessary procedures to renew the program agreement at the Faculty of Dentistry, as well as sign a memorandum of understanding between the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Pharmacy and Optical Sciences at the University of Manchester, to enhance cooperation in the field of pharmaceutical education and establish the Pharm D program (Mansoura - Manchester) for the bachelor's stage.
Prof. Mohamed Attia El-Bayoumi said that the university administration appreciates this international partnership that resulted in Mansoura University being the first to launch the first international medical education program in Egyptian universities, at the beginning of the 2006-2007 academic year, according to the agreement signed with the University of Manchester. He also pointed out that the dentistry program was launched and students were accepted from the beginning of the 2017/2018 academic year, which is the first specific program and twinning with a foreign university at the level of dental faculties in Egyptian universities.
The delegation members expressed their pride in the extended partnership with Mansoura University, stressing that it is a model to be emulated among Egyptian universities. They also praised the quality of the scientific and professional level of the program graduates working in the United Kingdom. They also offered all means of support and facilities to ensure the continuity of the existing partnership and the implementation of new partnerships by implementing the Manchester program at the Faculty of Pharmacy. The delegation also praised Mansoura University's excellence and its ranking in international rankings, especially in terms of medical research, pharmacy and clinical pharmacy.
It is worth noting that this visit coincides with Mansoura University's celebration of the graduation of the 14th batch of the Mansoura-Manchester Medical Education Program, which is scheduled to be held on December,4, 2024, at the Olympic Village at Mansoura University.
