President of Mansoura University follows up the new constructions in the education and hospital sectors

Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, said that the Egyptian state, headed by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, is interested in developing all the services provided by Egyptian universities, including Mansoura University, and the university is currently completing the development plan through several projects at the education sector to keep pace with the latest developments in infrastructure as well as hospital sector projects due to the many medical services provided to all the people of the Delta.

This comes during an inspection tour by the President of Mansoura University on January 8, 2024, to follow up a number of new facilities in the education and hospital sectors, in the presence of Prof. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Ashraf. Shouma, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Prof. Sherif Badawy, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.

This is within a series of planned visits, to follow up on ongoing projects at the university, aiming to achieve the university’s policy of developing facilities in all sectors to transform into fourth generation universities with environmentally friendly designs. During the tour, he inspected what had been accomplished with the construction of the educational building at the Faculty of Medicine.

The educational building is a major addition to the faculty of Medicine to accommodate the increasing number of students. It was built on an area of 2000 square meters, and consists of a basement, a ground floor, eight upper floors and a service floor. Internal finishing work is currently being carried out, as the building has two auditoriums with a capacity of 450 students. For each one and two laboratories with a capacity of 140 students, 5 small auditoriums, 40 student classrooms (PPL rooms), a computer hall, central control for exams, and 18 administrative rooms.

He also inspected the Experimental Medical Research Center (MERC) project. This project is considered an important national project for the scientific research system in Egypt, as the center serves a wide sector of researchers in various scientific fields at the university (medicine - pharmacy - dentistry - science) as well as other universities. It also provides training opportunities for students of faculties in the medical sector. The center was able to be popular locally and internationally, it received many awards and grants from various parties. A plot of land with an area of 435 square meters was allocated to establish a building equipped with the latest and best research equipment to keep pace with the development of scientific research.

The university president also inspected the construction that took place in the new expansion building at the Oncology Center. In the presence of Prof. Walid Al-Nahhas, Director of the Center, and Prof. Adel Fathi, Deputy Director. The new building consists of 8 floors, including 2 basement floors and 6 upper floors, which are outpatient clinics and services for oncology center patients. The building will be equipped with 3 radiation therapy machines, including 2 radiation accelerator machines and 1 local radiation machine.

The University President inspected what had been accomplished in the new liver transplant building at the Gastrointestinal Surgery Center, in the presence of Prof. Mohamed Abdel Wahab, supervisor of the liver transplant team, and Prof. Ahmed Shehta, Deputy Director of the Center.

The new liver transplant building at Mansoura University is being completed under the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to eliminate waiting lists for liver transplant patients, and it is the first in Egypt and the Middle East under this name. The building consists of 9 floors, it contains the ground floor, which is designated for services and mechanization, 6 outpatient clinic rooms, 3 operating rooms, 14 intensive care beds, 5 recovery beds, and 56 beds for patient accommodation. The 9th  floor includes endoscopy units, research, and laboratories.

During the tour, Prof. Cherif Khater inspected the medical services at the Center for Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Surgery, in the presence of Prof. Samer Rejal, Director of the Center.

The University President inquired about the level of medical services provided to patients, as well as electronic services, including the outpatient clinic ticket reservation system.

He also inspected the renovations of some units and departments at the main university hospital, where he inspected the renovations of the nuclear medicine department and the equipment that was made to install the linear processor device for oncology patients, as well as the fire-fighting tank system
