Vice President of Kent State University, USA visits Mansoura University to discuss ways of cooperation

Within the framework of cooperation between Mansoura University and the American universities, Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, received on January 18, 2024, Prof. Marcello Fantoni, Vice President of Kent State University in Ohio, USA, in the presence of Prof. Tarek Ghalwash, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research. Dr. Ahmed Hussein, Lecturer of structural engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and acting director of the International Relations Office, and Dr. Marwa Hassan, assistant professor of accounting at the Faculty of Commerce, Deputy Director of the International Relations Office for Humanities and Social Sciences Sector and consultant of the University President for strategic planning and sustainable development.
The visit included discussing ways of cooperation between Mansoura University and Kent State University of. It was agreed to start a cooperation protocol for a joint academic degree between the two universities. It is proposed to be called “Mansoura Kent State Degree”, “2+2”, where the student studies two academic years at Mansoura University and the other two years of specialization at Kent State University. The student receives a 50% discount on tuition fees at Kent State University, and then the student obtains a bachelor’s degree from Kent State University.
Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater said that Mansoura University is interested in partnering with international and prestigious universities to develop its educational and scientific programs according to international standards, which is strongly proven in the quality of the academic output, and that such modern programs would attract large numbers of international students to obtain international academic degrees at Mansoura University, which effectively contributes to increasing the university’s funding sources and providing educational capabilities to develop laboratories and modern teaching methods.
Prof. Marcello Fantoni said that coordination will be made between the two universities before starting to implement the joint academic degree, to take into account the compatibility of curricula between the two universities, the number of study hours, and the arrangement of everything that benefits the students. He also indicated that business specializations and the MBA program will begin.
Prof. Tarek Ghalwash indicated that the cooperation proposal also includes holding online meetings for professors from Kent state University and professors from Mansoura University to introduce the program and the academic courses included in the joint academic degree between the two universities.
The possibility of excellent university students obtaining scholarships from Kent State University, faculty staff exchange opportunities, and other areas of cooperation that meet the needs and aspirations of Mansoura University were also discussed.
