The Japanese Ambassador visits Mansoura University to discuss ways of academic and research cooperation

Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater - President of Mansoura University, received His Excellency Dr. OKA Hiroshi - Ambassador of the State of Japan to the Arab Republic of Egypt, and his wife, Mrs. Dr. Reiko OKA. The visit aims to discuss ways of cooperation between Mansoura University, scientific research institutions and Japanese universities within the framework of the university’s strategy to activate and consolidate international partnerships.
At the beginning of the visit, Prof. Cherif Khater welcomed the Japanese ambassador, pointing out the strength of Egyptian-Japanese relations at all levels and the existence of many common ties. He discussed the importance of maximizing cooperation due to the presence of a large number of faculty members at the university who are graduates of Japanese universities, and his aspiration to deepen and consolidate partnerships between Mansoura University and Japanese universities, exchange faculty members and students, establish joint academic degrees, joint supervision, and exchange theses and scientific research.
Ambassador OKA Hiroshi expressed his pleasure for visiting Mansoura University, stressing that it is one of the pioneer, famous and advanced universities. He pointed out that there are many ways to activate cooperation between Mansoura University and educational and research institutions in Japan, including grants provided by the Japanese Science and Technology Development Association, providing scholarships for bachelor’s and postgraduate studies. Introduction of the Japanese government within university academic and training programs, increasing cooperation with Japanese universities in various specializations. He also indicated his aspiration to hold a cultural day within the university to introduce Japanese culture and civilization and aspects of cooperation with Egyptian culture, which includes grants offered by Japanese universities and educational and research institutions.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Mohamed Attia Al-Bayoumi - Vice President of the University for Education and Students, Prof. Mohamed Abdel Azim - Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Ashraf Shoma - Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Yasser Lotfy - Dean. Of the Faculty of Dentistry, Prof. Maha Al-Ashmawy - Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Al-Shaarawy Kamal, Executive Director of Hospitals and Medical Centers, Assoc. Prof. Mohamed El-Refai - Director of the International Relations Office, Dr. Ahmed Anwar Al-Adl - General Supervisor of the Administration of International Students.
From the Japanese side, Dr. Toshifumi Ito - Director of the Media and Culture Center at the Embassy of the State of Japan in Cairo, Dr. Sato Tomonori - Researcher at the Japanese Science and Technology Development Association.
During the visit, a meeting was held with faculty members at Mansoura University from various specializations, graduates of Japanese university scholarships, and during the meeting, the experience of the faculty members during their studies in Japanese universities was discussed.
The ambassador explained that faculty members at Mansoura University represent a mediator of communication with Japanese universities and between the two countries in the future.
At the conclusion of the visit, a tour was made of some of the facilities at the university: an inspection visit to the Gastrointestinal Surgery Center, and the equipment of the new liver transplantation building and the medical services of the center were inspected as well. During the visit, the delegation was received by Prof. Mohamed Abdel Wahab, General Supervisor of Liver Transplantation, Prof. Helmy Ezzat, Director of the Center, and a number of the Center's faculty members. They also visited the Urology and Nephrology Center, where they were received by the scientist Prof. Muhammad Ghoneim, founder of the Center, Prof. Bassem Salah, director of the Center, and the faculty members of the Centre.
