President of Mansoura University receives President of the General Authority for Adult Education

On May 15, 2024, Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, received Prof. Eid Abdel Wahed, President of the General Authority for Adult Education, during his participation in the meeting organized by the Faculty of Education, Mansoura University, in cooperation with the Arab House for Adult Education.

In the presence of Prof. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Mohamed Attia Al-Bayoumi, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Ali Abd Rabbo, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Abdullah Ali, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Environmental Affairs. Dr. Asmaa El Hady, Director of Mansoura University Center for Adult Education, Mr. Mohamed Salem, Director of the General Authority for Illiteracy and Adult Education branch in Dakahlia.

The meeting discussed the distinguished efforts of Mansoura University, represented by the Center for Literacy and Adult Education, and the number of illiterate people whose illiteracy has been eradicated.

Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater said that eradicating illiteracy is an important national issue that everyone must come together to solve and eliminate, because the increasing rate of illiteracy is considered an obstacle to any development. Therefore, the political leadership gives great importance to eliminating this problem, and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the President of the Republic, provides all means of support to the judiciary. On illiteracy in all its forms to achieve sustainable development in the Egyptian state, he reviewed the university’s efforts in the presidential initiative “ Decent Life” to develop the villages most in need and the university’s convoys to the targeted villages in the governorate to eradicate illiteracy in them after conducting an actual inventory of the numbers and directing students to them to erase their illiteracy and reach villages free of illiteracy, and to encourage the students. For participation in this important work, the university offers incentive rewards to them.

He stressed the need to follow up on those whose illiteracy has been erased to raise their educational, cultural and intellectual capabilities.

Prof. Eid Abdel Wahed said that Mansoura University is a key partner of the Authority in the national project to eradicate illiteracy, and that the Authority provides full support to Mansoura University to carry out its role in the national project with the participation of university students.

He also praised the achievements of university students in the national literacy project and the eradication of the illiteracy of more than 12,000 citizens during the commission’s latest report.

Pointing out that eradicating citizen illiteracy is a national requirement and enables them to coexist with the digital environment and benefit from digital services and services provided by the state to citizens. He also stressed the importance of moving from adult education to continuing education.
