Announcing the winning teams at the conclusion of the Smart Environment Hackathon at Mansoura University

The Technological Innovations Unit at Mansoura University Center for Caring about Talented, Innovated, and Genius People organized the conclusion of the Smart Environment Hackathon, which was held during the period from 16 - 26 March, 2024, under the patronage of Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater, President of the University.

In the presence of Prof. Muhammad Attia Al-Bayoumi, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Muhammad Abdel Azim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Tarek Ghalwash, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Prof. Amina Al-Nimr, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Prof. Manal Eid, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Mohamed Shata, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Alaa Al-Tamimi, Vice Dean of the faculty of Law, Prof. Metwally Abu Sarea, Vice Dean of the faculty of Agriculture, and the supervision and organization of Dr. Maryam Wissa, Director of Mansoura University Center for Caring about Talented, Innovated, and Genius People, and Assoc. Prof. Abeer Tawakl, director of the Technological Innovations Unit at the center, and Assoc. Prof. Mohamed Sabry Saraya, Coordinator of Student Activities at the University, and Mr. Ahmed Al-Ashry, Director of the General Administration for Student Welfare.

Where 35 student teams with entrepreneurial ideas from various faculties and specializations participated in the competitions and presented their ideas before a committee of experts, and the winning teams were announced during the ceremony.

The Scanalyze team won 12 training scholarships from the Egyptian Society for Medical Engineering. The team includes: Mennat Allah Sharif Ibrahim - Ahmed Ragab Shaaban - Ahmed Samir Ahmed - Amina Khaled Hassan - Bahgat Ayman Saad - Hazem Mustafa Farouk - Muhammad Ihab Kamal - Muhammad Mansour Al-Husseiny - Yara Abdel Aziz Marouf - Yasser Hudhayfah Sultan.

The Locus team also won financial support of 20,000 pounds and an incubation from Horus Incubator. The team includes: Yasmine Moawad - Youssef Amr Mumtaz - Youssef Islam Abdullah Al-Rifai - Ahmed Othman Fathallah Ramadan - Zad Sameh Ezzat - Hossam El-Sayed Ibrahim - Youssef Ahmed Mohamed - Islam Ashraf Abdel Azim - Youssef Maati Muhammad - Hajar Ramadan.

Prof. Mohamed Attia Al-Bayoumi said that the hackathon represents an ideal platform for enhancing cooperation and exchanging knowledge and ideas between researchers and participants from various entities and those interested in the field of the smart environment, including entrepreneurs, researchers, investors and decision-makers. He added that the hackathon aims to encourage innovation and develop sustainable and effective technical solutions in this important field to reach smart, innovative solutions that contribute to achieving the sustainable development and achieving Egypt’s Vision 2030.

Assoc. Prof. Abeer Tawakkol said that hackathon competitions provide opportunities for participants to implement and develop their ideas in an environment that stimulates creativity and innovation, through teamwork and interaction with specialists in the field, as well as an opportunity to build communication networks, cooperation with individuals and institutions of common interest, and enhancing interaction between both academic industrial sectors in the field of smart environment.
