Prof. Ashraf Sobhi praised the scientific and research role of Mansoura University as a source of science and knowledge and an honorable model in the Delta governorates.
On May 18, 2024, Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater - President of Mansoura University received Prof. Ashraf Sobhi - Minister of Youth and Sports, who chaired the committee discussing the doctoral dissertation submitted by researcher Reem Essam Abdel Fattah, entitled “The Egyptian Public’s Use of Sports Influencers’ Pages on Social communication Websites and its relationship to his level of sports fanaticism”.
In the presence of Prof. Mahmoud Al-Gaidi - Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Muhammad Attia Al-Bayoumi, Vice President of the University for Education and Students, Prof. Muhammad Abdel Azim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Tarek Ghalwash, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Prof. Mona Othman - Undersecretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Dakahlia, members of the Parliament and the Senate, and a number of sports figures.
Prof. Ashraf Sobhi, at the beginning of his speech praised the scientific research system, which contributes to enriching scientific and practical life, praising Mansoura University, its excellence at the local and international levels, its scientific and research role as a pioneer of science and knowledge and an honorable model in the Delta governorates, and its qualified staff at the highest level. Stressing that the university is the scientific center for all youth and sports centers affiliated with the Ministry within the governorate.
Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater stressed the fruitful cooperation between the university and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. During the meeting, Mansoura University’s initiative “Dakahlia Without Illiteracy” was launched and cooperation with various ministries (Ministry of Education - Ministry of Youth and Sports - General Authority for Adult Education) is implementing the initiative. Within three years, Dakahlia will be illiterate-free through the role of university students in eradicating illiteracy in every village. The initiative is based on continuing to rehabilitate those whose illiteracy has been eradicated, follow up on them, raise the educational, cultural and intellectual aspects, spread awareness, and increase national belonging by providing places to rehabilitate those whose illiteracy has been eradicated. Illustrate them in youth and sports centers spread across all centers and villages, in cooperation with the executive authorities concerned with the initiative.
He also praised the aspects of cooperation, including the announcement of the operation of the Mansoura University Club, which is the first sports club in Egyptian universities, as well as cooperation in hosting sports competitions and championships, with the structure and sports components that the university possesses, represented in the Olympic Village.
The discussion and judging committee included: Prof. Ashraf Sobhi - Minister of Youth and Sports, Chairman and Discussant, Prof. Hanan Youssef - Professor of Mass Communication at Ain Shams University and Dean of the Faculty of Language and Media at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, as supervisor and member, Assoc. Prof. Ahmed Othman - Assistant Professor of Radio and Television, Department of Mass Communication - Faculty of Arts, Mansoura University, Discussing the importance of the thesis in studying the impact of social media and its relationship to the level of sports fanaticism among the Egyptian public was praised, and at the end of the discussion, the researcher was awarded a PhD degree.
