Mansoura University President and Dakahlia Governor Lay the Foundation Stone for the University Emergency Hospital Extension Project which adds a Capacity of 230 Beds

- The new building will make a significant addition to the medical system at Mansoura University's university hospitals and contribute to increasing the capacity of the Emergency Hospital.

Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, and Major General Tarek Marzouk, Governor of Dakahlia, on August 28, 2024, laid the foundation stone for the Emergency Hospital Extension Project over an area of 1,600 square meters at a cost of one billion pounds. Within the framework of the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to provide all medical services at the highest level for the good of the Egyptian citizen. In the presence of Prof. Mohamed Attia El-Bayoumi, Vice President of the University for Education and Students, Prof. Mohamed Abdel-Azim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development , Prof. Tarek Ghalwash, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Prof. Ashraf Shoma, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Sherif Makin, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Prof. Al-Shaarawy Kamal, Executive Director of Hospitals and Medical Centers, Prof. Amir Fikry, Director of the Emergency Hospital, Prof. Walid Mounir, Director of Mansoura University Hospital, Prof. Hanan Wahba, Head of the Department of Oncology and Nuclear Medicine, the heads of the Defense, National Security, Agriculture and Economic Affairs Committees, the Deputy of the Education and Scientific Research Committee in the Parliament, members of Parliament and the Senate, representatives of the regulatory and sovereign authorities, deans and vice deans of faculties, businessmen, representatives of charitable societies, and directors of hospitals and medical centers.
Prof. Cherif Khater said that implementing the Emergency Hospital Extension Project was one of the first files he dealt with after assuming the presidency of the university in November 2022, and since that date he has paid great attention to its rapid implementation, completing what was previously started, and communicating with the Ministry of Health, pointing to the continuous support of all members of the Parliament, extending his thanks and appreciation to all of them and extending his greetings and appreciation to Prof. Nisreen Omar - former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and member of the Parliament for her huge efforts in coordination, communication and facilitating the procedures required for the project. He also extended his thanks and appreciation to Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health, for their full support for the project to serve the citizen in the Delta region. He also presented the achievements of the medical sector at Mansoura University since its inception till now, referring to the bright points of excellence over the years, starting from the first starting point represented in the establishment of the first specialized medical center " Urology and Nephrology Center", until it has now reached 13 university hospitals and medical centers, quality medical services to citizens in Egypt, and in the Delta governorates in particular.
Prof. Cherif Khater pointed out that the new building will achieve a significant addition to the medical system at Mansoura University Hospitals, as it will contribute to increasing the capacity of the Emergency Hospital, which provides all urgent medical care services for accident cases and first aid for patients in critical conditions, and provides all integrated examinations for citizens and accident victims for more than 200,000 cases annually, and about 15,000 operations are performed annually to save accident and critical patients in Dakahlia and the Delta Governorates, as it will add a capacity of 230 beds, including 170 beds for inpatient accommodation, 50 intensive care units, and 50 operating rooms equipped with a capsule system, bringing the total number of beds for the Emergency Hospital to 460 beds. The University President also presented the university shield to Prof. Sherif Makin, First Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Dakahlia, for his efforts in supporting the implementation of the project and concluding the protocol that was signed with the Ministry of Health.
Major General Tarek Marzouk said that Mansoura University is the best supportive partner to the governorate in construction, development, and providing medical care to patients, and there is full cooperation and coordination between the governorate and the university to provide all services to the Dakahlia citizen. The Governor announced, saying, "I will be the first to donate from my personal account to Mansoura University to participate in building the extension of the new emergency hospital that will serve the citizens of Dakahlia and the Delta governorates". He called on all civil society institutions in Dakahlia, businessmen and volunteers to take the initiative and donate to Mansoura University to build this new medical edifice.The governor also stressed that Mansoura University Emergency Hospital is one of the best emergency hospitals in Egypt due to the excellence of its medical staff and their professional competence. This is why Mansoura has become the medical capital of Egypt due to its medical scientists and specialized medical centers.
Prof. Sherif Makin said that he found all the support from Dakahlia Governorate and Mansoura University, and that this project is the result of cooperation between the Ministries of Higher Education and Health and is one of the important medical projects to serve patients in all parts of Dakahlia Governorate and the Delta governorates, noting that Mansoura University hospitals provide distinguished medical services in cooperation with the Ministry of Health hospitals and the university's emergency hospital plays a major role in providing medical and therapeutic services. It is worth noting that the University Emergency Hospital extension project is the construction of a new building adjacent to the current hospital building, and is built on an area of 1600 square meters, and includes a basement for basic services, a ground floor, and 9 upper floors that contain: - A full floor for receiving emergencies, in addition to 2 floors dedicated to the Ministry of Health, and floors for operations, intensive care, recovery, laboratories, internal residence, and auxiliary services, as well as a floor dedicated to receiving patients from the Urology and Nephrology center, and receiving dental emergency patients, in addition to what it includes of diagnostic and service units that include the central blood bank, a group of integrated laboratories, and radiology units (regular x-rays - CT scans - magnetic resonance).
