Mansoura University Salon Discusses the Novel "Scenes Pulsating in a Perforated Memory"

The Cultural Salon at Mansoura University held its meeting on November 23, 2024, in the auditorium of Prof. Abdel Razek El-Sanhouri at the Faculty of Law, to discuss the autobiographical book: "Scenes Pulsating in a Perforated Memory", which was recently published by Prof. Ahmed Gamal El-Din, former Minister of Education and Higher Education, in the presence of Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, Prof. Reda Abdel Salam, former Governor of Sharkia, Prof. El-Saeed Abdel Hadi, President of Horus University, Prof. Tarek Ghalwash, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Mohamed Suwailem El-Bassiouny, former Vice President of the University, Prof. Walid El-Shennawy, Dean of the Faculty of Law. The meeting was attended by members of the Cultural Salon, deans, vice deans of faculties, faculty members, media professionals and journalists.

The meeting was moderated by the great journalist, Mr. Hazem Nasr, who expressed his thanks and appreciation to Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, who was the first to launch the Mansoura University Cultural Salon in early 2023, to be the first cultural salon in Egyptian universities. He also expressed his pride in managing a cultural salon that discusses a book by a great writer and thinker, and presents his autobiography, which is one of the most difficult literary writings that many writers refrain from, and only brave-minded writers undertake it, to perform their duty towards youth and different generations.

Prof. Cherif Khater welcomed all attendees to the salon, praising the unique personality of Prof. Ahmed Gamal Moussa, which is characterized by objectivity, decisiveness, sophistication, discipline, integrity, transparency, and long experience exceeding half a century, which is a vast source for learning and gaining valuable life experiences. He added that the launch of the cultural salon comes within the university's efforts to implement the directives of the President of the Republic, towards activating the methodology of spreading a cultural strategy stemming from a safe intellectual, civilizational and cultural awareness, within the university's vision to enhance cultural awareness and exchange it among thinkers, and transfer it to the promising generation of young people.

While Prof. Walid El-Shennawy indicated his great pleasure that the Faculty of Law has the honor of holding the cultural salon meeting, especially since the guest is one of the senior professors of the faculty who contributed to its construction and distinction, among the various faculties of law in Egypt.

The meeting included interventions and discussions by the attendees about their vision of the book and praising the dazzling content and substance and the reliance on biographies and documentation of daily life as one of the approved and most honest methods in writing history. The speakers stopped at the structural features of the author of "Scenes Pulsating in a Perforated Memory", describing it as a coherent book in structure and meaning, which presents an integrated narrative with multiple meanings, but it achieves the same goal.

The author's insightful vision in a strong memory was also highlighted, whether in his various educational stages up to university, and his participation as a reserve officer in the glorious October War of Pride and Dignity, then after that the beginning of his professional life in the judiciary and his transfer to the university to teach there.

The speakers also indicated that Prof. Ahmed Gamal's experience and autobiography are a rich experience, as well as his ability to recall the past in a wonderful literary style.

The discussion during the symposium was attended by Prof. Reda Abdel Salam, Prof. El-Saeed Abdel Hadi, Prof. Amr Sarhan, Prof. Tarek Ghalwash, Prof. Mahmoud El-Gaidi, Prof. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Prof. Wajih Yaqoub, Prof. Tamer Saleh, Prof. Alaa El-Tamimi, and Prof. Ibrahim Abdullah.

It is worth noting that the book "Scenes Pulsating in a Perforated Memory" is one of the latest publications of the Egyptian General Book Authority, in which Prof. Ahmed Gamal El-Din Moussa seeks to present his biography and life experience, most notably his participation in the great October victory. It is worth noting that Prof. Gamal El-Din held the position of Minister of Education, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in various governments, in addition to many prestigious positions at the university, most notably the presidency of Mansoura University. He is a thinker and auther, and has published many books in economic and social sciences, and published a number of novels and distinguished literary production, including: "The American Heidelberg Girl", "A Meeting in the Oasis of Longing", "The King of Shooting", "The Fate of the Temple Guardian's Cache", and "Reading in My Grandfather's Memoirs".

 It is also worth noting that Mansoura University Cultural Salon is an important platform for dialogue and cultural exchange between authers, thinkers and media professionals, as well as an intellectual and educational platform for exchanging thought and experiences, raising the level of culture and discussing topics of interest to Egyptian affairs. It aims to improve public taste, enhance the values of belonging to the homeland, spread the culture of tolerance and acceptance of others, confront false ideas that are contrary to traditions, values and university norms by enhancing awareness in the university community. It also contributes significantly to enhancing cultural dialogue, with its inclusion of towering national figures and the issues it addresses with ideas and theses that all target a brighter future for this country.
