President of Mansoura University inaugurates the first student forum for scientific research and innovation at the Faculty of Science

Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, inaugurated the activities of the "First Student Forum for Scientific Research and Innovation" on November 24, 2024, which was organized by the Faculty of Science, Mansoura University, in the presence of Prof. Mohamed Attia Al-Bayoumi, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Osama Al-Ayan, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. Hassan Othman, former Vice President of the University, Prof. Mohsen Awad Zahran, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Mohamed Abu Al-Nour, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, the deans of the faculties, heads of departments, directors of qualitative programs, and faculty members.
The forum aims to encourage undergraduate students to develop their research skills, enhance their critical and creative thinking abilities, and build a generation capable of facing challenges and achieving accomplishments. The forum includes 50 research contributions from students at the Faculty of Science from 12 Egyptian universities to present their innovative ideas and projects that seek to bring about positive changes in various scientific and technological fields and to be ambassadors of the future and drivers of progress and innovation.
Prof. Cherif Khater said that the implementation of this forum comes within the framework of implementing the directives of the political leadership to encourage scientific research and innovation, and in accordance with Mansoura University's plan to achieve the goals of Egypt's Vision 2030, and the National Strategy for Higher Education, and also to enhance the file of linking scientific research to industry, which is considered the main pillar of the future in light of the current global challenges, stressing the university's keenness to provide all material and logistical support for the scientific research file. He also appreciated the fact that the student forum was held for the first time within the Faculty of Science, which is one of the leading faculties in scientific research at the university, expressing his pleasure at the presence of many joint researches between a number of faculties in harmony that calls for pride in the level of scientific research, and in the tremendous research capabilities of young people. He added that the university is on its way to establishing a specialized office for student research, as well as launching the first scientific journal at the level of Egyptian universities specialized in publishing student research.
The forum also called for coming up with scientific recommendations and a well-thought-out work plan, in preparation for Mansoura University to transfer it to the Delta Region Universities Alliance during its presidency of the alliance this year by launching the second student forum for scientific research in cooperation with the alliance universities.
Prof. Mohamed Attia Al-Bayoumi welcomed the attendees to Mansoura University, stressing that student scientific research is one of the most important files as it works to develop students’ thinking skills, as well as developing the relationship between them and faculty members, and it also contributes to supporting the university's ranking, and transfers research from theory to application. He also pointed out the support of the Education and Student Affairs Sector for the student research and innovation file, thanking the Faculty of Science for this distinguished initiative.
Prof. Osama Al-Ayan said that the idea of the forum began with the university administration's directives on the importance of investing in students' minds, trusting them and relying on them to implement real scientific research, stressing that this forum includes 27 research posters and 9 innovation projects, all of which are qualified for publication in international scientific journals.
Prof. Mohsen Zahran said that the idea of the forum meets with the idea of effective and good education, which is considered passion as its main driver in a competitive environment among university students with new standards. He also pointed out that the forum includes a number of sponsoring companies that provide distinguished job and training opportunities for students and graduates of the faculty.
At the conclusion of the opening ceremony, a number of faculty members from the faculty, including the judges of innovative projects, founders and supervisors of student initiatives, the organizing committee of the forum, and the conference sponsors were honored for their distinguished contributions
