President of Mansoura University witnesses the closing ceremony of the Ministry of Higher Education's "Tamkeen (Empowerment)" initiative to support people with disabilities from university students in Luxor city

Prof. Cherif Khater: Mansoura University launched the Tamkeen (Empowerment) initiative activities in the Delta Region Alliance with the participation of the alliance universities

- We seek to provide all means of support to students with disabilities to integrate them into the university community and enhance their participation in various student activities.
- The Center of Services for Students with Disabilities at Mansoura University is one of the largest centers specialized in providing support to students with disabilities, among 24 centers at the level of Egyptian universities.
Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, witnessed the closing ceremony of the 1st edition of the "Tamkeen (Empowerment)" initiative to support people with disabilities from university students, which was implemented by the Ministry of Higher Education; Under the patronage of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, and in the presence of Prof. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Ahmed Fouad Hano, Minister of Culture, Prof. Mohamed Gebran, Minister of Labor, Prof. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, Engineer Abdel Mutalib Amara, Governor of Luxor, Prof. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities, and a group of presidents of public and private universities and popular and executive leaders, in addition to the wide participation of students from various Egyptian universities, reaching 562 students.
The celebration activities were held on December 9, 2024, in the courtyard of the Deir el-Bahari Temple "Hatshepsut Temple", on the West Bank of Luxor.
Prof. Cherif Khater expressed his great pleasure to participate in this event, which aims to raise awareness of the rights and duties of students with disabilities within Egyptian universities, and to provide equal opportunities for them, within the framework of the directives of the political leadership and the plan of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to integrate students with disabilities into society. He also thanked His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for his full support for people with disabilities and working to integrate them into all aspects of life, building ties of communication with them, and giving them equal opportunities that enable them to participate effectively alongside the rest of the community, as caring for university youth and developing their capabilities is a fundamental pillar of the Egyptian state's strategy for sustainable development and Egypt's Vision 2030.
Prof. Cherif Khater pointed out that Mansoura University witnessed the launch of the "Tamkeen (Empowerment) " initiative to raise awareness of the rights of people with disabilities and support their integration into Egyptian universities in the Delta Region Universities Alliance, which was organized within the framework of the Ministry of Higher Education's "Tamkeen (Empowerment) " initiative, in cooperation with the global "Hope Donors" campaign, at the beginning of last November, with the participation of 14 universities in the Delta Region Alliance, stressing that the launch of this initiative comes within the framework of the state's ongoing efforts to enhance the rights of people with disabilities, support their integration into society, and spread awareness of their rights and duties in Egyptian universities.
Prof. Cherif Khater also stressed the interest that Mansoura University pays to providing all means of support to people with disabilities, to integrate them into the university community, and enhance their participation in various student activities (cultural, sports, scientific, artistic, as well as student unions), in addition to raising awareness among all members of the university community, including faculty members, students and administrators, to create a positive and stimulating educational environment for students with disabilities, pointing to the pioneering role of the Center for People with Disabilities Services at Mansoura University, which is one of the largest centers specialized in providing support to people with disabilities, among 24 centers at the level of Egyptian universities.
The celebration activities included various artistic segments with the participation of students with disabilities, during which they presented singing and playing segments that demonstrated their abilities and creativity. Documentary films were also shown that documented the journey of the "Tamkeen (Empowerment) " initiative and its tangible achievements in empowering students with disabilities and providing a comprehensive educational environment for them.
