Prof. Cherif Khater President of Mansoura University received on December 15, 2024, Major General Dr. Bahaa El-Din Zidan, head of the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Supply and Medical Provision, and his accompanying delegation.
Major General Bahaa El-Din: Mansoura University has an important and vital role in providing the highest level of medical services to millions of citizens in Egypt and has gained their trust in various parts of the Republic.
President of Mansoura University: We are keen to remain at the forefront as a pioneer of medicine in Egypt and to provide integrated medical services to patients.

In the presence of Prof. Mohamed Attia El-Bayoumi, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Mohamed Abdel-Azim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Ashraf Shoma, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. El-Shaarawy Kamal, Executive Director of University Hospitals.
The Authority's delegation included Brigadier General Ahmed Salah, Advisor to the Chairman of the Authority, Dr. Amani Farag, Head of the Central Administration for Unified Purchasing, Colonel Mohamed Ibrahim, Director of the Office of the Chairman of the Authority, and Engineer Ahmed Moheb from the Medical Equipment Department.
Prof. Cherif Khater welcomed Major General Bahaa El-Din, praising the Authority's continuous and unlimited support for the medical sector at the university, and also honoring Mansoura University with this important visit to enhance cooperation with the Authority, in order to ensure the provision of distinguished medical services to patients. He added that the university's achievements were reviewed, as well as its obtaining institutional accreditation, as the first Egyptian university to be accredited by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education in Egypt, and 10 of its faculties obtaining accreditation. It also has a medical sector that includes 13 hospitals and specialized medical centers, with a prestigious reputation and position locally and internationally, and has been accredited by the Arab Council for Medical Specializations affiliated with the Council of Arab Health Ministers, to obtain the Arab Board in various clinical and medical specialties.
The university president pointed out the keenness of its administration to remain at the forefront with its distinguished medical services as a pioneer of medicine in Egypt and to provide integrated medical services to patients, within the framework of the directives of His Excellency President of the Republic to care for the health of citizens, facilitate patients and provide medical services that meet their needs, stressing that the university administration has paid great attention to supporting its university hospitals as they provide their medical services to nearly a third of Egypt's population with a frequency rate of nearly 2 million patients annually.
Major General Dr. Bahaa El-Din Zidane expressed his pleasure to visit Mansoura University with its educational and medical sectors, describing it as a great edifice, due to its impact on the health system in Egypt as a whole. Mansoura University Hospitals play a very important medical service role not only in the Delta, but also throughout the Republic, which indicates the great confidence that patients place in them, as a result of the remarkable effort and the wonderful system that continues across different generations. He also praised the work system at Mansoura University, stressing that it is the most accomplished, and has the lowest rates of complaints, indicating his aspiration to generalize this experience throughout Egypt.
During the visit, Major General Baha El-Din Zidane met with the directors of university hospitals and specialized medical centers, in an expanded meeting to present the full status of university hospitals’ dealings with the unified purchasing system. He pointed out that the linear accelerator device will soon be supplied to the Oncology Center, and he also discussed the requests and needs of various hospitals, stressing his strong support for them and his keenness to do everything possible to provide them, as Mansoura University plays an important and vital role in providing the highest level of medical services to millions of citizens in Egypt, and has gained their trust in various parts of the Republic.
Brigadier General Ahmed Salah reviewed the experience of the Unified Procurement Authority from its inception until now, explaining detailed statistics on Mansoura University's dealings through the Unified Procurement System since the start of work with the Unified Procurement Authority, through the Corona pandemic, and the extensive dealings and facilities that have been made in it, and the complete position of the medical devices required by the Authority in terms of supplies and financial claims and the supply position and timetable in the case of devices that have not been supplied, stressing that it is considered the third largest university in terms of the volume of dealings with the Authority.
Prof. Al-Shaarawy Kamal also gave a detailed presentation that included the various medical services provided by the university hospitals sector, their points of excellence, as well as the specialized qualitative services that Mansoura University Hospitals are unique in. The presentation also included the participation of Mansoura University Hospitals in all presidential and community initiatives, and their leadership in the first places in them. He also presented statistics on transactions on the unified purchasing system for medical devices, supplies and medicines.
At the end of the meeting, Prof. Sherif Youssef Khater presented the university shield to Major General Dr. Bahaa El-Din Zidan, , in appreciation of his great and distinguished efforts in supporting the needs of the health sector in Egypt, and for honoring Mansoura University with a visit.
The visit program concluded with a tour of the Urology and Nephrology Center, which began with a presentation by Prof. Basem Salah Wadiea, Director of the Center, about the history and present of the Urology and Nephrology Center, which was founded by the eminent scientist Professor Prof. Mohamed Ghoneim, and which is considered one of the largest and most prestigious medical centers specialized in kidney and urology diseases in the world. Then the delegation toured the center, which included the various administrative and medical departments, and won the admiration of Major General Bahaa El-Din Zidane and the accompanying delegation, and their wishes to generalize this unique experience in various hospitals in Egypt.
