Under the patronage of Prof. Cherif Khater, President of the University, Mansoura University participated in the Arab-Global Academic Cooperation Meeting on Green Economy Jobs, organized by the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), an affiliate of the League of Arab States, at its headquarters in the Tunisian capital.
The meeting aimed to bring together a number of Arab universities, particularly those interested in archaeology and tourism, to meet with their counterparts from several Mediterranean countries. Mansoura University's participation in this meeting comes within the framework of its commitment to academic openness and the exchange of expertise with regional and international universities.
Mansoura University was represented by Prof. Mohamed Ahmed Abdel Latif, Professor of Archaeology and Tourism Guidance, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels at Mansoura University, and former Assistant Minister of Antiquities.
Prof. Cherif Khater emphasized that the university's participation in this prestigious regional scientific event comes within the framework of its ongoing commitment to supporting regional and international initiatives that enhance the role of universities in achieving sustainable development goals. He noted that the university's Faculty of Tourism and Hotels represents an advanced model for integrating academic education with practical training, making it a fundamental pillar in preparing qualified personnel capable of competing in the labor market, both regionally and globally.
During the meeting, Prof. Mohamed Abdel Latif gave a presentation on Mansoura University, in addition to a research paper titled "The Vision and Objectives of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels at Mansoura University for Tourism Education in Various Specializations." He reviewed the faculty’s vision for developing tourism education programs to keep pace with developments in the local, regional, and international labor market and provide its graduates with a real competitive advantage.
The research paper focused on highlighting Mansoura University's excellence in combining theoretical education with practical training, whether through university facilities such as the Mansoura University Hotel, the Nile Club, and the Guest House and Conference Center, or through effective partnerships with major tourism institutions. He added that the faculty is uniquely located in the heart of the Nile Delta and is the only faculty specializing in tourism guidance and hotel and tourism studies in the region. Its distinction stems from its advanced educational infrastructure, including an educational archaeological museum, a training restaurant, and advanced computer labs, creating a comprehensive educational environment that meets international quality standards. He emphasized the support of scientific research, the development of student capabilities, and the expansion of academic cooperation through the conclusion of cooperation protocols with several relevant entities, including the Ministry of Education and major hotel chains, in addition to the introduction of the latest software systems in hotel and hospitality management. He added that the primary goal is to prepare graduates capable of competing in the tourism market, both locally and internationally, equipped with the scientific and practical skills that qualify them to work in the fields of guidance, hospitality, and tourism management, thanks to the flexible and dynamic academic programs offered by the college in both Arabic and English.
The meeting program included a number of scientific sessions on the functions of the green economy, and concluded with the issuance of a set of recommendations calling for strengthening Arab and international academic cooperation in fields related to sustainable development and the green economy.
