In one of the highlights of the International Summer Training Program, students from Al-Ain University in Iraq, participating in the program at Mansoura University, met with Prof. Mohamed Ghoneim, a world-renowned kidney transplant pioneer and founder of the Urology and Nephrology Center at Mansoura University. This meeting took place during a scientific visit to the center, providing the students with a unique scientific and humanistic experience. The visit allowed them to learn firsthand about one of the leading medical practices in Egypt and the region, as part of the training program implemented by the university under an academic cooperation agreement with Al-Ain University in Iraq.
The delegation was received at the center by Prof. Mohamed Al-Fahhar, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Education and Student Affairs, along with the center's administration. They welcomed the students and reviewed the center's history since its establishment, highlighting its scientific, medical, and research achievements that have made it one of the most important specialized centers in Egypt and the Middle East, and a distinguished destination for medical education, training, and scientific research, thanks to its accumulated expertise and pioneering contributions in the fields of kidney surgery, transplantation, and urology.
The visit included an inspiring scientific meeting with Prof. Mohamed Ghoneim, who welcomed the students in the center's conference hall. He guided them through the highlights of his academic and professional career, sharing his experience in establishing one of the most important specialized medical institutions. He also discussed the challenges he faced in transforming the center into a global model of medical and research excellence.
During the meeting, Prof. Mohamed Ghoneim emphasized that a distinguished physician does not merely possess academic knowledge, but continues learning and scientific research throughout their career. Medical students continued their practical training in the educational and clinical units, while dental students received training in specialized clinics, and pharmacy students participated in training programs at the teaching pharmacy, all under the supervision of a select group of faculty members and specialists from Mansoura University.
