The Faculty of Law concludes the third season of the “Judges of the Future” competition with wide participation from Egyptian and Arab universities

The Faculty of Law at Mansoura University concluded this evening the activities of the third season of the “Judges of the Future” competition for 2026, held under the patronage of Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, and with the participation of law students from a number of Egyptian and Arab universities. This reflects the university's commitment to promoting applied legal education, preparing qualified legal professionals, and linking academic study with practical application.

The ceremony was attended by Prof. Walid Mohamed El-Shenawy, Dean of the Faculty of Law; Prof. Ahmed Shawky Abu Khatwa, former Dean of the Faculty; Prof. Tamer Mohamed Saleh, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Ibrahim Abdullah, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research; Prof. Alaa El-Tamimi, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Counselor Bahaa El-Marry, President of the Alexandria Criminal Court; as well as faculty members, members of the judging panels, team supervisors, and participating students.

Prof. Cherif Khater affirmed that the university continues to develop its educational system by expanding applied activities and programs that provide students with practical experience alongside their academic studies. This contributes to preparing graduates who possess the scientific competence and professional skills necessary to meet the demands of the job market.

He pointed out that the "Judges of the Future" competition has become a distinguished educational experience, allowing students to simulate the practical realities of judicial work. It contributes to developing their skills in legal analysis, drafting legal briefs, pleading, and decision-making, thus enhancing their readiness for professional life after graduation.

He added that the broad participation from Egyptian and Arab universities reflects the academic standing the competition has achieved and confirms the success of the Faculty of Law at Mansoura University in providing a training experience that combines academic study with practical application. This experience also contributes to strengthening cooperation and the exchange of expertise among law students.

The university president commended the efforts of the Faculty of Law, the organizing committee, and the members of the judging panels. He emphasized that the continued organization of the competition for the third consecutive year reflects the quality of the preparation and organization and underscores the university's commitment to supporting initiatives that contribute to preparing qualified legal professionals to serve society.

Prof. Walid Mohamed El-Shenawy affirmed that the "Judges of the Future" competition has become one of the most prominent academic events organized by the college. Over its three seasons, it has contributed to solidifying the concept of applied legal education and providing students with the opportunity to apply what they have learned in the classroom within an environment that simulates real-world judicial situations.

He added that the college places great emphasis on the practical aspect of preparing its students through mock trials, the legal clinic, field visits to courts, and meetings with judges. This enhances their academic and professional capabilities and qualifies them to enter the job market effectively.

He pointed out that the college continues to develop its training programs and expand its cooperation with law schools both within Egypt and abroad, thereby strengthening its academic standing and its role in developing legal education.

Prof. Tamer Mohamed Saleh explained that the "Judges of the Future" competition is no longer merely a competition among students, but has become a comprehensive training program designed to prepare a generation of legal professionals who possess legal knowledge and practical skills and who believe in the values ​​of justice and the rule of law. He added that the competition provided students with a genuine opportunity to develop their legal reasoning skills, factual analysis, proper application of legal texts, drafting legal briefs, argumentation, and teamwork, in addition to strengthening academic communication between law faculties in Egyptian and Arab universities.

He noted that the third season saw the participation of three teams from each university, and the competition was held in several stages. Forty-five teams qualified from the first round, followed by 18 teams in the second stage, before six teams competed in the final round: four teams from Egyptian universities, one from Iraq, and one from Libya.

He added that all stages of judging were conducted according to precise standards that ensured integrity and equal opportunities. Judges were assigned by lottery, and no team was evaluated by a judge from its own university. The final round was judged by Prof. Ahmed Shawky Abu Khatwa, former Dean of the Faculty of Law, and Counselor Bahaa El-Marry, President of the Alexandria Criminal Court.

Dr. Ahmed Sharaf, a lecturer in the Civil Law Department and coordinator of the "Judges of the Future" competition, explained that the organizing committee was keen to prepare a legal case inspired by real-world practice. This allowed students to experience a simulation of litigation procedures and apply legal principles in a practical setting that enhances their professional skills.

He added that this year's competition witnessed a rise in performance levels and strong competition among the participating teams, reflecting the significant benefits it provides to students and its role in developing their legal research skills, drafting legal briefs, pleading, and teamwork abilities.

The ceremony also included the announcement of the competition results and the awarding of individual prizes in the categories of Best Case, Best Lawyer, Best Judge, and Best Public Prosecutor. The top three winning teams were also recognized, and the event concluded with a group photo of the participants.
