President of Mansoura University Receives Delegation from Al-Ain University of Iraq at the Start of the International Summer Training Program

Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, received a delegation from Al-Ain University of Iraq, in the presence of Prof. Mohamed Attia El-Bayoumi, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Tarek Mostafa Ghalwash, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research. This meeting marked the launch of the joint international summer training program, hosted by Mansoura University from July 18 to 24, 2026, within the framework of the academic cooperation agreement signed between the two universities. The agreement aims to enhance scientific cooperation and the exchange of academic and practical expertise between the two institutions.

 The Iraqi delegation included Dr. Adnan Taan Thamer, Dean of the College of Medicine at Al-Ain University and head of the delegation; Dr. Raed Fanoukh Abu Khader, Assistant Dean of the College of Medicine for Scientific Affairs; Dr. Abdel Rahman Al-Batat, Director of the International Training Program; Dr. Hesham Abu El-Ela, a faculty member at the College of Medicine; Dr. Karima Abu El-Fotouh, a faculty member at the College of Pharmacy; and the students participating in the program.

 The meeting was also attended by Prof. Tarek Mostafa Ghalwash, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Khaled Bashir, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; Dr. Walid Tantawi, Assistant Secretary of the University for Education and Student Affairs; Dr. Al-Mu'tasim Billah Al-Bahrawi, General Supervisor of the International Students Office; Prof. Mohamed Al-Fahhar, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Education and Student Affairs; and Prof. Rabab Salama, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry for Community Service and Environmental Development.

 Prof. Sherif Khater welcomed the Iraqi delegation, expressing his great pleasure at hosting students and faculty members from Al-Ain University in Iraq at Mansoura University. He emphasized that Egyptian-Iraqi relations represent a solid model of Arab cooperation, and that universities play a pivotal role in strengthening this cooperation through academic and research partnerships and the exchange of expertise between students and faculty members. He also extended his thanks and appreciation to Prof. Haider Abdul-Amir Marhoon, President of Al-Ain University in Iraq, for his continuous support of academic cooperation between the two universities. He affirmed that this partnership represents a successful model of joint Arab cooperation and contributes to opening new horizons for scientific, student, and research exchange between the two institutions. The university president affirmed that hosting the Al Ain University delegation is an extension of Mansoura University's strategy to strengthen cooperation with sister Arab universities and expand its network of regional and international partnerships. This contributes to preparing students with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to keep pace with the rapid advancements in various scientific disciplines. He noted that the university prioritizes the internationalization of higher education and the exchange of expertise.

 He added that the university continuously works to develop international cooperation programs that facilitate the exchange of expertise and enhance its regional and international presence. He pointed out that Mansoura University is committed to providing a comprehensive training experience that combines educational, practical, and cultural aspects, leveraging its distinguished resources, including its prestigious faculties, university hospitals, and specialized research centers. This allows international students to learn about the latest scientific applications and gain practical experience that enriches their academic journey.

Prof. Mohamed Attia El-Bayoumi affirmed that Mansoura University places great importance on international students and is committed to providing them with comprehensive support and care from the moment they arrive until the program's completion. This ensures a complete educational and training experience that reflects the university's distinguished standing and contributes to strengthening communication and rapprochement among Arab youth, thus embodying the universities' mission of building bridges of cooperation between nations.

 Profg. Tarek Mostafa Ghalwash explained that the joint training program represents a successful model of academic cooperation between Arab universities. It provides students with the opportunity to train within educational laboratories, research centers, and university hospitals, and to learn about the latest technologies and applications in their fields of specialization. This contributes to developing their scientific and practical skills and bridging the gap between academic study and practical application.

 During the meeting, a friendly dialogue took place between the university president and the students. He listened to their aspirations and impressions of participating in the training program. The discussion covered several important topics, most notably the importance of maximizing the benefits of the training program, learning about the educational and research capabilities of Mansoura University, opportunities for postgraduate studies, and the role of student activities in developing students' personalities. The dialogue also included an exchange of views on ways to enhance academic and cultural cooperation between the two universities, contributing to strengthening the bonds of brotherhood between Egyptian and Iraqi youth.

 The program includes specialized practical training within the faculties of medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy, encompassing teaching laboratories, specialized clinics, research centers, and university hospitals. In addition, there is a cultural and recreational program that includes tours of the university campus, visits to the Olympic Village and the permanent camp in Gamasa, and a recreational trip. This allows the delegation to experience the scientific, cultural, and historical assets of Mansoura University and the Dakahlia Governorate.

 The delegation from Al Ain University in Iraq comprises forty male and female students from the faculties of Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy, accompanied by an academic and administrative delegation. Dr. Walid Tantawi is coordinating the program in cooperation with the Education and Student Affairs sector, contributing to its success and the achievement of its scientific and training objectives. This will strengthen academic cooperation between the two universities and bolster the fraternal relations between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Republic of Iraq.

 At the conclusion of the meeting, Prof. Cherif Khater and the head of the Iraqi delegation exchanged commemorative shields in appreciation of the academic cooperation and partnership between the two universities. Commemorative photos were also taken with the academic delegation members and participating students, marking the official launch of the training program.
