The Faculty of Science discusses the latest developments in mathematics and artificial intelligence and their applications at the second conference in cooperation with Horus University

Prof. Tarek Ghalwash, Vice President of Mansoura University for Graduate Studies and Research, and Supervisor of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, inaugurated the second conference on mathematics and artificial intelligence and their applications. The conference was organized by the Faculty of Science at Mansoura University in cooperation with Horus University, under the patronage of Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University; Prof. El-Saeed Abdel-Hadi, President of Horus University; Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Horus University; and Prof. Magda Nasr, Vice President of Horus University for Graduate Studies and Research, Member of Parliament, and former President of Mansoura University. This initiative aligns with Mansoura University's strategy to support interdisciplinary scientific research, enhance academic cooperation, and utilize artificial intelligence applications to serve sustainable development.
The conference comes at a time of rapid expansion in artificial intelligence applications, aiming to enhance the integration of mathematics and AI, provide a scientific platform for exchanging expertise, and showcase the latest research and applications. This contributes to the development of scientific research, supports innovation, strengthens cooperation between universities and academic institutions, and links the outputs of scientific research to the needs of society and the demands of the labor market.
The opening session was attended by Prof. Ehab Abdel Latif, Dean of the Faculty of Science at Mansoura University and Conference Chair; Prof. Hossam El-Din Mostafa, Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Artificial Intelligence at Horus University and Conference Chair; Prof. Osama El-Ayan, former Dean of the Faculty of Science; Dr. Hamdi Abdel Hamid, Head of the Mathematics Department at the Faculty of Science, Mansoura University and Conference Coordinator; and Dr. Fayez Ghaleb, President of the Egyptian Mathematical Society. A select group of faculty members, researchers, postgraduate students, and those interested in mathematics and artificial intelligence from various universities and scientific institutions also participated.
The conference was held amidst the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence applications, aiming to promote integration between mathematics and AI, provide a scientific platform for exchanging expertise, and showcase the latest research and applications. The conference, hosted by the Faculty of Science at Mansoura University for its first day and Horus University for its second, featured a diverse scientific program that included research sessions and specialized lectures addressing the latest developments in mathematical analysis, computer modeling, and artificial intelligence, and their applications in the fields of science, engineering, healthcare, education, and industry. It also included presentations and discussions of several applied research projects that highlighted the role of mathematical models and artificial intelligence techniques in providing innovative solutions to real-world challenges, thus enhancing the integration of theoretical knowledge and practical application.
Dr. Tarek Mostafa Ghalwash emphasized the importance of directing scientific research and applied studies toward priority national issues, noting that scientific research is the engine of development and that linking its outputs to real-world challenges is the path to producing innovative solutions that contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. He added that the rapidly evolving nature of technological challenges necessitates strengthening interdisciplinary studies and integrating disciplines. He emphasized that mathematics represents the scientific foundation upon which artificial intelligence algorithms and their applications are built, and that integration between the two fields has become essential for developing vital sectors, most notably healthcare, industry, and resource management.
He pointed out that the postgraduate studies and research sector at Mansoura University adopts a clear strategy to support multidisciplinary research, encourage academic collaboration both locally and internationally, and provide a stimulating research environment for producing applicable knowledge. He expressed his hope that the conference's outcomes would contribute to launching new research partnerships and providing practical recommendations that support the scientific research system and serve the community.
Prof. Magda Nasr praised the fruitful cooperation between Mansoura University and Horus University, affirming that this partnership represents a model of integration between public and private universities. She added that it contributes to developing academic and research programs that keep pace with the rapid advancements in digital transformation and artificial intelligence, and meet the needs of the labor market. Dr. Ehab Abdel Latif emphasized that the conference reflects the pivotal role of mathematics as the foundation upon which artificial intelligence applications are built. He noted the Faculty of Science's commitment to providing a stimulating scientific environment for exchanging experiences and research ideas, thereby supporting innovation and keeping pace with global scientific advancements.
Prof. Hossam El-Din Mustafa explained that artificial intelligence applications have become among the most important drivers of innovation across various sectors. He stressed the importance of strengthening the integration between mathematical theories and software applications, and of preparing research personnel capable of working with future technologies.
Prof. Hamdi Abdel Hamid also pointed out that the presented research papers reflected the latest global trends in mathematics and artificial intelligence, contributing to enriching scientific discussions and opening new avenues for interdisciplinary research collaboration.
At the conclusion of the conference, Prof. Tarek Mostafa Ghaloush, Vice President of Mansoura University for Graduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Magda Nasr were honored for their role in supporting scientific research and promoting academic collaboration. The honorees also included Prof. Ehab Abdel Latif, Prof. Hossam El-Din Mostafa, Prof. Fayez Ghaleb, and Prof. Hamdi Abdel Hamid, in recognition of their scientific and organizational contributions to the conference's success.
The honors extended to student Mostafa Attia, Campus Director for the Hult Prize program at Mansoura University, for receiving the title of Best Campus Director in the Middle East and North Africa region, in recognition of his excellence in organizational management. Additionally, Dr. Dina Ahmed and Dr. Mona Anis, Assistant Professors in the Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Science, were honored for their organizational efforts in preparing for the conference.
