President of Mansoura University: The torch of the week embodies the spirit of communication among university youth... and the event is a platform for discovering talents, building awareness, and strengthening belonging

Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, witnessed the ceremony of receiving the torch of the 14th University and Higher Institutes Youth Week, which is being hosted by Minya University from September 25 to 30, 2026, as part of its tour among participating Egyptian universities. This was its twelfth stop at Mansoura University, in preparation for the start of the week's activities. The torch was received in the "People's Square" on the Mansoura University campus, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Azim, Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences; Prof. Mohamed Shata, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture; Prof. Mosaad Salama, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Arts; Mr. Ashraf El-Deeb, Assistant Secretary of the University for Administrative Affairs; Dr. Walid El-Tantawy, Assistant Secretary of the University for Education and Student Affairs; Dr. Mohamed Sabry Saraya, Supervisor of Student Activities; Dr. Amani El-Hadidi, Coordinator of Student Activities at the Faculty of Law and Assistant Rapporteur of the "Students for Egypt" family; Mr. Ahmed El-Ashry, Director General of Student Welfare; directors of student welfare departments; faculty members; staff; and students.

Prof. Cherif Khater emphasized that the support of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for Egyptian youth, and his continuous attention to them, represents a fundamental pillar in building the new republic. He pointed out that investing in the capabilities of young people, empowering them, and providing them with opportunities is one of the most important pillars in preparing a generation capable of bearing responsibility and actively participating in the development process and building the nation's future.

The President of Mansoura University also expressed his gratitude to Prof. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, and Prof. Abdel Aziz Qansouh, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in appreciation of their support for the higher education system and student activities, and their commitment to providing an environment that helps students develop their skills, discover their talents, and engage in activities in various fields.

Prof. Cherif Khater extended his thanks and appreciation to Prof. Essam El-Din Sadek Farhat, President of Minya University, and to the university's faculty and organizing committees, in recognition of their efforts in preparing to host the 14th University and Higher Institutes Youth Week. He affirmed that Minya University's hosting of this event represents an important opportunity for university and higher institute students to meet, exchange experiences, and strengthen communication among them in various fields. The President of Mansoura University affirmed that the "University and Higher Institutes Youth Week" is one of the most important gatherings for young people and students, providing an atmosphere that combines competition and interaction. It allows students to participate in sports, arts, culture, sciences, and scouting, in addition to gaining new experiences and developing teamwork and collaboration skills.

Prof. Cherif Khater pointed out that the torch relay carries a message that transcends mere celebration. As it travels between Egyptian universities, it unites young people around a single event and opens the door for them to learn about the experiences of their peers at different universities. He emphasized that the accompanying program, which includes field visits to national projects, helps connect students with the development projects and efforts underway in the country.

Following the torch's reception ceremony at the "People's Square" on campus, the delegation from the 14th "University and Higher Institutes Youth Week" proceeded to New Mansoura City for a field visit to one of the most prominent urban development projects in the Delta region. This city represents a model for the fourth-generation cities being implemented by the state according to a vision aimed at creating integrated and sustainable urban communities. During the visit, the delegation learned about the city's components and the ongoing projects in housing, services, and infrastructure, as well as its educational institutions, facilities, and recreational areas. This reflects the state's commitment to creating new communities that combine high quality of life with integrated services and benefit from modern urban management solutions.

The visit is particularly significant due to the city's connection to the higher education system, with several private and non-profit universities located there. This highlights the integration between urban development projects and university institutions, providing students with a practical example of the region's expansion in education and development.

The visit to New Mansoura is part of the program accompanying the Torch Week, which aims to give university students the opportunity to learn firsthand about examples of state-implemented projects, connect student activities with Egypt's ongoing development efforts, and raise awareness among young people about the various projects underway across the country. The torch of the week continues its tour among Egyptian universities, reaching Minya University, in preparation for the launch of the “14th University and Higher Institute Youth Week” activities during the period from September 25 to 30, 2026, with the participation of university and higher institute students in various events and competitions.
