Mansoura University President inaugurates the annual conference for postgraduate studies at Mansoura Faculty of Law entitled "Legal and Social Dimensions of the Uses of Modern Technology"

Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, inaugurated on December 15, 2024, the activities of the 8th annual conference for postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Law, Mansoura University, under the title "Legal and Social Dimensions of the Uses of Modern Technology", in the presence of Prof. Sayed Abdel Khalek, former Minister of Higher Education, Prof. Tarek Ghalwash, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Prof. Walid El-Shennawy, Dean of the Faculty and Chairman of the Conference, Prof. Ibrahim Abdullah Abdel Raouf, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Postgraduate Studies and Research and Vice President of the Conference, Deans and Vice Deans of Faculties, Heads of Departments, Prof. Alaa El-Tamimi, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Mayada Hassan, Conference Rapporteur, faculty members, and postgraduate researchers.
Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater said that Mansoura University realized that the rapid and successive changes and developments that the international community has gone through in recent years have been reflected in many scientific concepts, theories and practical practices; and that the successive technological developments that the world is witnessing are of interest to legal and economic experts, to study and research them, praising the Faculty Council's choice of this important topic, which is considered one of the important topics of the hour.
The President of the University pointed out that introducing the digital and technological transformation system in the field of legal and economic studies will undoubtedly contribute to achieving the goals of sustainable development and the Egyptian state's vision 2030, which is committed to the framework of governance and adherence to laws under the rule of law and achieving an institutional framework necessary to achieve transparency and accountability and confront all challenges at the top of its priorities.
Prof. Tarek Ghalwash said that the successive challenges and rapid technological developments have become imperative for society to achieve a balance between them and the economic and legal needs, to support the positive aspects and limit the negative effects resulting from technological development. Therefore, researchers in various sectors must develop legal and economic frameworks for decision-makers to solve the problems they may face.
Prof. Walid El-Shenawy pointed out that the Faculty of Law, Mansoura University, continues to set an example at the level of Egyptian and Arab law faculties in subjecting the most important legal problems to research and study, stressing the keenness of the Faculty Council this year to adopt the most exciting topics at the local and international levels, which is "the legal and economic dimensions of technological uses", to clearly show the faculty's keenness on the importance of keeping pace with various legal studies of rapid technological and technical developments, which impose on us to hold conferences and workshops that work to support the efficiency of researchers in the postgraduate stage to integrate them into the era of the knowledge economy and technology.
Prof. Ibrahim Abdullah added that the world is witnessing a huge technological and economic revolution today, the effects and repercussions of which have been reflected on various sectors and economic and productive activities in various countries of the world. The legal and economic studies sector has not been immune to this development, as technological developments have contributed to a qualitative shift in the legal sector during the past few years. However, the adoption of these legal technologies still faces many challenges, which can be overcome through studies and research that can suggest innovative legal solutions to overcome these challenges, stressing the involvement of young researchers in scientific forums that enhance their research capabilities and at the same time contribute to proposing and finding solutions.
Dr. Mayada Hassan said that Mansoura Faculty of Law is one of the first faculties in the Republic to launch a conference for postgraduate students, with the continuation of launching the conference for eight consecutive years without interruption since its launch, due to the importance of the conference in raising and addressing issues related to various fields of legal and economic studies and urging postgraduate students, young researchers and members of the auxiliary body and building their capabilities in scientific research.
At the end of the opening session, the Faculty of Law presented its shield in appreciation and gratitude to Prof. Cherif Khater, President of the University, and Prof. Tarek Ghalwash, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research.
It is worth noting that the conference included three scientific sessions, the first under the title "Private Law and Islamic Sharia", while the second session was entitled "Political Economy and Economic Legislation Session", and the third session was entitled "Public Law and Criminal Law", and the sessions included six axes: the economic dimensions of the uses of modern technology, the implications of modern technology in the field of public law, the implications of modern technology in the field of criminal sciences, the implications of modern technology in the field of private law, the international dimensions of the uses of modern technology, and the legal aspects of the uses of modern technology.
