Mansoura University Adopts Artificial Intelligence Tools in English Language Teaching through a Global Partnership

As part of Mansoura University's ongoing efforts to develop the higher education system and keep pace with the global digital transformation, Prof. Tarek Mostafa Ghalwash, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, received a delegation from the global company Pearson Education to discuss ways of joint cooperation in the field of English language teaching through advanced electronic applications. They also discussed the possibility of offering the PTE international test at the university.

The meeting was attended by Prof. Mohamed El-Alfy, Director of the Center for University Performance Development; Dr. Samah El-Saeed, Deputy Director of the Center; Dr. Iman Obeida, Director of the Translation, Authorship, and Publishing Unit; Mr. Douglas Henry Jack, Academic Advisor at Mansoura College; and Dr. Islam El-Hadidi, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Education.

The meeting addressed prospects for academic cooperation and opportunities to launch advanced training programs that meet the needs of graduate students and researchers in the field of language skill development.

Prof. Tarek Ghalwash emphasized the importance of this partnership, which reflects the university's drive toward internationalizing education and raising the efficiency of graduates. This is in line with the state's vision for developing education and achieving sustainable development goals. It also contributes to building the capacity of its students and preparing them to compete in the global labor market.

Following the meeting, the University Performance Development Center at the Faculty of Law organized a scientific day titled "Learning and Teaching English in the Light of Artificial Intelligence Applications: Opportunities and Challenges."

The day was led by Prof. Walid Mohamed El-Shenawy, Dean of the Faculty, and supervised by Prof. Ibrahim Abdullah Abdel Raouf, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research.

The event is part of the University Performance Development Center's efforts to enhance Mansoura University's strategy toward internationalizing higher education and enhancing the efficiency of the educational process by integrating the latest artificial intelligence tools into language learning and teaching.

The event included a series of specialized sessions, most notably:

"The Future of International English Language Testing, Artificial Intelligence, and the PTE Test," presented by Professor Ipek Aydin, Director of PTE Tests for the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey. "The Impact of Culture on Language Learning and the Criteria for Evaluating Speaking Skills in International Tests," presented by Dr. Islam El-Hadidi and Professor Douglas Henry Jack.

"Peer to Peer Learning: A Distinctive Student Experience from Campus," presented by Mohamed El-Hadidi and Farah Nawara, students from the English Language and Translation Program at the Faculty of Arts.

"Interactive Teaching Strategies Using Artificial Intelligence," presented by Prof. Reham El-Ghoul, Director of the Center for Educational Technology at Mansoura University.

"Using Pearson Mylab & Mastering Tools to Support Language Learning," moderated by Prof. Ahmed Samir, Higher Education Lead at Pearson Middle East and Africa.

"Digital Assessment: Is It the Future of Education?" presented by education expert Prof. Stephen O'Farrell, PTE Lead Consultant and Trainer for the MENA region.

The event concluded with an introductory session about Pearson Education and potential collaboration opportunities, presented by Prof. Rania Nazih, PTE Business Development Specialist for North Africa, and Prof. Israa Moataz, University Partnerships Lead at the company.
